भारत 12.5 ओवर के बाद 1 विकेट पर 89 रन बना चुका था जब बारिश ने खेल को बाधित कर दिया और अंत में इसे रद्द कर दिया। पहले बारिश के कारण मैच को 29 ओवर प्रति पक्ष के लिए छोटा कर दिया गया था, लेकिन अगले पड़ाव ने प्रतियोगिता को छोड़ने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया। न्यूजीलैंड के कप्तान केन विलियमसन ने टॉस जीतकर भारत के खिलाफ गेंदबाजी करने का फैसला किया था।
