Valve confirms that The International is returning to China in 2026
Dota 2's The International is returning to China for the 2026 edition, as confirmed by publisher Valve.

The announcement came during Sunday’s Grand Final in Germany, where Team Falcons edged China's Xtreme Gaming 3-2. Shortly before the trophy ceremony, Valve boss Gabe Newell featured in a short video where he revealed the news.
"First off, I want to thank everyone in Germany for helping us make the International such a success," he said.
"We all share our love of the game with an international community, and I'm excited to announce that next year's International will also be returning to a previous location. [Shanghai] I hope to see you there!"
Shanghai last hosted the event in 2019 and featured a staggering $34.3 million prize pool that still remains one of the biggest in esports history.
This decision comes at a moment when Chinese Dota 2 is rallying. Xtreme Gaming stormed through the group stage with a flawless 4-0 record and fought their way all the way to the grand finals, proving their place among the best.
Meanwhile,, China’s other representative - Team Tidebound - also made waves with a 4-1 group stage finish before bowing out in the playoffs at 7th-8th place.
