T1 book spot in 2025 League of Legends Worlds main draw
T1 Esports played their way into the main draw of the 2025 League of Legends World Championships with a 3-1 victory over Invictus Gaming.
FakerT1 haven't been consistent in the LCK season this year, but they do seem to come up clutch when it matters. The defending champions were forced into the one-off qualifier as the opening match of Worlds 2025 at the Beijing Smart Esports Center, and they did not disappoint.
The match itself ebbed and flowed, with T1 striking first and IG battling back to make it 1-1. While the LPL team took the early lead in the final two matches, T1's superior teamfighting, smart resets, and clutch play saw them reign supreme.
The 2025 Worlds opener drew a record crowd for the first day, with over 2.5 million viewers following the action online.
T1 legend Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok now enters the event as the first player in League of Legends history to make ten Worlds appearances.
"I'm grateful to be able to play in front of so many fans here in Beijing, and I'm happy we won," he told the press.
"Sure, if you lose you could be going home, but we chose to view it as having the upside of getting one extra match in beforehand. We just focused on doing our absolute best.
"We expected their composition to be very strong in the early and mid game, so we tried to address that phase properly."
