Han "Peanut" Wang-ho announces military service for 2026
League of Legends pro Han "Peanut" Wang-ho revealed he will take a sabbatical from esports as he signs up for his compulsory military service next year.

As a result of the Korean War, South Korea still has a mandatory 18-month military conscription in place for all males before they turn 30. Peanut will turn 28 in February.
Peanut’s Hanwha Life Esports is currently on its way to the LCK Grand Final and they have already qualified for the League of Legends World Championship 2025, which will take place in China starting 14 October. Peanut will be looking for a Worlds title before leaving for the military.
Last week was his final at LoL Park in Seoul. After a winning match over KT Rolster, Peanut said: "Thank you for everything, thank you everyone."
Other South Korean esports stars managed to dodge the conscription for good by winning the Asian Games, which grants an exemption to anyone who brings home a medal for the country. Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon have all been exempt.
