m0NESY departs G2 for Falcons in blockbuster transfer ahead of BLAST.tv Austin major
G2 Esports CEO Alban 'Stilgar' Dechelotte has officially confirmed the departure of star AWPer Ilya 'm0NESY' Osipov, with the organization agreeing to transfer him to Team Falcons.

While m0NESY's contract was originally set to run until December, G2 made the decision to release him early in order to "maximize their chances of rebuilding the team."
The high-profile move will see the Russian sensation reunite with former teammate Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač, who recently claimed the PGL Bucharest 2025 title after a dominant win over G2.
Fans can look forward to m0NESY's debut with Falcons at the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major, kicking off on June 6.
"I'm very sad to see Ilya go but I wish him the best and thank him for the magic moments he gave us," Stilgar posted on X.
According to multiple reports, Team Falcons had been pursuing m0NESY for some time, but initial negotiations failed to produce an agreement, leaving his future with G2 uncertain for several months.
"It was obvious that he was becoming a bit disconnected from the rest of the team due to his situation and it was very difficult to have meaningful conversations with potential talents without the clarity around his future," Stilgar wrote.
"Now that the decision has been made we are gonna make the best of the last three events of the season and work in parallel to prepare for the next season with ambition."
m0NESY will be stepping into the AWPer role for Team Falcons, replacing Abdul 'degster' Gasanov, who notably earned MVP honors at PGL Bucharest 2025.
"Sorry, that's it. Thank you to everyone who supported G2 and me all this time. This was a chapter that made me stronger. People who will stay in my memory forever. A team that was my home, my second family. Thank you for everything. The story ends here. The story inside — never," said m0NESY on leaving G2 Esports after three years.
G2 Esports is yet to confirm m0NESY's replacement.
