Gen.G secure round 2 bye as 2025 LCK playoffs race heats up
The 2025 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) season entered a decisive stage in Round 4, Week 1, with Gen.G sealing a second-round Playoffs berth after a dominant run of form.

The reigning champions extended their winning streak to four matches, highlighted by back-to-back triumphs over rivals T1 and KT Rolster.
Gen.G's surge began with a 2-1 reverse sweep of T1 on 7 August, avenging a prior Round 3 loss. After dropping Game 1 in a 19-2 kill rout, bot laner Park 'Ruler' Jae-hyuk delivered a flawless performance on new champion Yunara in Game 2, before mid laner Jeong 'Chovy' Ji-hoon led a Corki-centred composition to a swift 26-minute victory.
Three days later, Gen.G swept KT Rolster 2-0, with Ruler going deathless across both games and earning Player of the Match honours. The results lifted Gen.G to a league-best 23-1 record, securing one of two Legend Group Round 2 byes.
Elsewhere, KT's loss extended their skid to five matches, while T1 rebounded to defeat Nongshim RedForce on 9 August, securing their own postseason berth.
Support Ryu 'Keria' Min-seok made history as the first LCK support to reach 500 career kills, and top laner Choi 'Doran' Hyeon-joon dominated lane in a series defined by early-game control.
Dplus KIA also booked a Play-In spot with a 2-0 sweep over DN Freecs on 10 August, showcasing sharp objective control and the league's first Janna pick in over three years. The defeat ended DN Freecs' playoff hopes.
BNK FEARX, OKSavingsBank BRION, and DRX remain in contention for the remaining Play-In slots, with the regular season concluding in September before the Playoffs and World Championship.
