Counter-Strike: Complexity stun FaZe 2-0 to reach Bucharest playoffs
In a stunning upset at the PGL Bucharest Major, Complexity Gaming swept FaZe Clan 2-0 in the Swiss Stage, securing their first Playoff appearance of 2025 and eliminating former teammate Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski.

Led by Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli's dominant performance, Complexity outclassed the favorites despite entering as underdogs.
The win is especially meaningful given the backstory: EliGE, once considered the centerpiece of Complexity, had left for FaZe in pursuit of greater success. His former squad, meanwhile, took a gamble on lesser-known talents Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk and Nick "nicx" Lee. Though the start of the year looked bleak - with a 10-match losing streak and heavy community skepticism - the team's mid-season coaching change and rapid improvement flipped the narrative.
Complexity's 13-match win streak leading into Bucharest and their recent close loss to G2 hinted at promise, but the win over FaZe solidified their status as serious contenders.
For in-game leader Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, celebrating a landmark win on his birthday made the moment even more special.
While it's too early to declare a full North American renaissance, Complexity's rise is a breath of fresh air in a scene long overdue for a comeback.
