100 Thieves names messioso and sgares to lead Counter-Strike 2 push
100 Thieves has named new leadership for its Counter-Strike division ahead of its return to esports, appointing Graham 'messioso' Pitt as Head of CS Operations and Sean 'sgares' Gares as Head of FPS.
100-thieves16The moves come as 100 Thieves prepares to enter Counter-Strike 2 with its newly announced 100 Thieves Roobet initiative, unveiled two days ago as part of a multi-year partnership that expands the organisation into Europe's esports scene.
The appointments were confirmed on X earlier today, with 100 Thieves noting that these hires represent some of the key "pieces" in assembling its Counter-Strike 2 roster. sgares and messioso are the first hires ahead of the team's official launch, with an in-depth interview featuring the duo now available on YouTube.
Fans are especially excited to see messioso return to Counter-Strike 2 after departing Complexity when the organisation shuttered its Counter-Strike division. Meanwhile, sgares, a former competitive CS:GO player, most recently competed with Shopify Rebellion's VALORANT team.
"When you guys reached out, I was so stoked," sgares said. "I was having a lot of fun in the game, so when you guys reached out, I was so stoked. When you asked for a call to talk about the opportunity, I was so excited I just showed up at the office."
After bringing sgares on board, 100 Thieves quickly decided to add messioso, who brings extensive insight into the Counter-Strike 2 scene.
The two veterans discussed plans for the 100 Thieves Roobet team, including a focus on pairing experienced players with younger talent they can mentor and inspire.
"Hopefully we'll have some news about the roster [soon]," messioso said. "Sean and I have been working really hard on who these coaches and IGLs are that we want to work with. Hopefully, the next announcement should be something on that."
