Karabo Meso ready for 'hectic' subcontinent challenge with Proteas Women

    Karabo Meso is looking forward to challenging herself on the subcontinent after earning maiden ODI call-up to the Proteas Women's squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka.

    Meso, alongside fellow SA U19 star Seshnie Naidu and Miane Smit, was one of three new players called into the Proteas 50-overs squad for the series that will feature the host nation and India.

    Having played in India before, Meso is no stranger to the challenges of the subcontinent's spin-heavy conditions and will take on board the valuable lessons she learned from her previous tour.

    The wicketkeeper-batter said: "The subcontinent can be hectic, but I learned to take it one day at a time. It's all about being present and focusing on what's in front of me.

    "It's tough, but the more you practice, the easier it gets. I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead and honoured to be able to represent my country once more.

    "The coaches back me, no matter where I'm at. It's going to be an exciting time, and I'm really looking forward to it."

    The 17-year-old has already represented the national side in two T20Is and was an instrumental part of the SA U19 Women's team that reached the U19 T20 World Cup earlier this year.

    With 275 runs under her belt in the  domestic Hollywoodbets Pro Series 50-over competition – including a  century – Meso heads to Sri Lanka in fine form and full of belief.
