Wimbledon Venus Williams and Jamie Murray win Wimbledon mixed doubles opener
Venus Williams marked her return to Wimbledon alongside Jamie Murray with a 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3 victory over Alicja Rosolska of Poland and Michael Venus of New Zealand in the first round of the mixed doubles event at the Grand Slam tournament

Seven-time major champion Venus Williams is playing her first tournament for the 2022 season at Wimbledon. She had not competed in any tour-level events since competing at the Chicago Open last August.
Venus Williams shared that her pairing with Jamie Murray was finalized at the last moment. She said, "I have been trying to play with him forever. He plays hard to get. I haven't played in a year, so you don't know what you will get. Practice is so much different from a match. It's not easy physically or mentally or anything.
It did not take long for the duo to find their chemistry despite playing together for the first time. Venus Williams and Jamie Murray saved all five break points they faced in the first set. They broke Alicja Rosolska and Michael Venus to get a 3-1 lead and then comfortably closed out the opening set with three excellent serves after just 39 minutes of play.
Venus Williams and Jamie Murray faced a much more brutal fight in the second set as they failed to outplay Alicja Rosolska and Michael Venus, sending the match into a decider. The game had to be stopped due to bad weather to allow the roof to be closed.
Venus Williams and Jamie Murray quickly raced to a 3-1 lead. Alicja Rosolska and Michael Venus had an opportunity to get ahead on the serve of Venus at 4-2, 0-30. Still, he faltered with his forehand twice, allowing the British-American duo to secure a second-round spot two games later.
