Tennis News: Nick Kyrgios handed wildcard for Cincinnati Open
Nick Kyrgios has been away on a post-Wimbledon vacation in the Bahamas before the beginning of the US Open, set to begin next month. He plans to redeem himself after being knocked out of the US Open in straight sets in the first round last year.

Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios has earned himself a wildcard entry to the Western & Southern Open, which takes place in Cincinnati from August 13-21, 2022. Nick Kyrgios, who used to be world No.13, reached his maiden ATP Masters 1000 final at this event five years ago and lost to Grigor Dimitrov. After two years, Kyrgios was charged with a record $113,000 fine in a meltdown that included several smashed racquets, verbal abuse and multiple instances where he exhibited unsportsmanlike conduct initiated in a second-round loss to Karen Khachanov. The ATP took action by declaring a suspended 16-week ban.
The native of Canberra has not competed in the venue since that incident but is now known for being the Wimbledon runner-up. Kyrgios currently occupies the number 47 rank but was exempted from receiving points from his maiden major final match due to the ATP and WTA tours stripping ranking points away as an answer to the All England Club's banning of Russian and Belarusian competitors.
