Tennis : Bad Homburg Open 2022 Angelique Kerber plotting a comeback

    Angelique Kerber was winning the first set when the play ended for the day, and the match was extended  the next day owing to bad weather

    The game began four hours after the scheduled time due to heavy rains. Kerber was leading Gasanova 4-2, the game ended for the day, and the two had to wait overnight to conclude the match. 

    Kerber won last year's Bad Homburg tournament and must be dead set on winning this year too. Whoever wins the first round will face Lucia Bronzetti in the second round. Lucia Bronzetti beat Kaja Juvan yesterday to reach the second round. Juvan lost 6-4, 5-7, 0-2 to Bronzetti, who will now be competing in the second round against Kerber or Gasanova, whoever wins the first round.

    Alize Cornet beat Anna Kalinskaya 6-2, 6-4

    Alizé Cornet beat Anna Kalinskaya yesterday, achieving her first grasscourt win this season. Cornet had lost to Kalinskaya last week in Berlin, and yesterday, she beat her in a straight-set win 6-2, 6-4. This win will be followed by a second-round match with Tatjana Maria of Germany. 

    The inclement weather has been interrupting many games. Tatjana Maria beat Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to reach the second round; While Maria's match with Anastasia managed despite repeated weather interruptions.
