Iga Swiatek reaches maiden Wimbledon final with commanding victory
Iga Swiatek powered into her first Wimbledon final with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 victory over Belinda Bencic on Centre Court, showcasing her growing prowess on grass.

The Polish star, renowned for her dominance on the clay courts of Roland-Garros, where she has claimed four of her five Grand Slam titles, had previously found the grass of SW19 challenging.
This year, however, Swiatek has adapted brilliantly, displaying newfound confidence and precision to reach the championship match.
Swiatek's performance against Bencic was a masterclass in control. She seized an early 3-0 lead in the first set, capitalizing on sharp movement and powerful serving.
A brief pause due to a medical emergency in the crowd did little to disrupt her rhythm, as she secured a crucial break in the eighth game to clinch the set.
The second set saw Swiatek elevate her game further, breaking Bencic three times to seal the match in just over an hour.
"I never thought I'd feel this comfortable on grass," Swiatek said in a post-match interview. "I'm improving my movement, serving well, and just enjoying every moment. To reach the final here is beyond what I dreamed."
She added, "Every match requires adjustments, but I'm going for it, and it's working."
Swiatek herself shared on X, "Feeling the love from the Wimbledon crowd! Ready to give my all in the final."
Awaiting Swiatek in Saturday's final is Amanda Anisimova, who stunned world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka earlier on Thursday. The American's aggressive style promises a thrilling showdown.
Swiatek, now ranked world No. 4, has shown she is ready to embrace the challenge and chase her first Wimbledon crown.
