Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson set for Brentford switch after Ajax exit
Jordan Henderson is poised for a return to the Premier League, with the former Liverpool captain set to sign a two-year deal with Brentford following his departure from Ajax.

The 35-year-old midfielder agreed to terminate his contract with the Dutch club a year early and is expected to complete formalities with Brentford in the coming days. Henderson's return to English football would bring valuable experience and leadership to Thomas Frank's side, who are looking to fill the void left by former captain Christian Norgaard's move to Arsenal.
Despite attracting interest from several clubs across Europe and the Premier League, Brentford have emerged as the frontrunners for Henderson's signature in what is being seen as a smart, strategic addition to their squad.
The move would also keep Henderson firmly in the spotlight ahead of next year's World Cup, with regular Premier League minutes likely to strengthen his case for inclusion in Thomas Tuchel's England plans. Henderson currently has 84 senior caps and remains a respected figure within the national setup.
This would mark Henderson's return to English football after leaving Liverpool in 2023 for a short-lived stint with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq. He joined Ajax in January 2024, making over 50 appearances and playing a key role in their push for the Eredivisie title, which ultimately went to PSV Eindhoven on the final day of the season.
A decorated career at Liverpool saw Henderson lift the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup (twice), Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Community Shield during a 12-year spell at Anfield.
Now, as Brentford look to consolidate their place in the top half of the Premier League table, Henderson's arrival would add depth, maturity, and a winning mentality to the Bees' midfield.
