The esports organisation had a rich history in Counter-Strike, having fielded a roster in Valve's first-person shooter title since 2014. Over the last decade, the organisation has won several tournaments, including the ELEAGUE Boston Major in 2018.

But Cloud9 stepped away from competing in Counter-Strike 2 last year, releasing a host of players in the process.

Talks of Cloud9 returning to Counter-Strike were mentioned by French content creator Sebastien 'KRL' Perez, who claimed that NAVI Junior may be bought up by Cloud9 during the off-season.

Responding to the rumours on the Cloud9 subreddit, Etienne put the record straight.

"This is a false rumour, sorry guys," he wrote.

Outside of Counter-Strike, Cloud9 competes in several esports titles, including Call of Duty, VALORANT and Rainbow Six Siege.
