The 25-year-old, captaining India for the first time, has already left a mark with a staggering 505 runs in the first two Tests, including a commanding double century.

His efforts were instrumental in India's resounding 336-run victory over England at Edgbaston, marking his first win as skipper.

"He's been good. He's very calm and composed and I strongly believe that how the rest of the 10 players also react to whatever decision he has taken has been measured decisions, well thought of," Tendulkar said in a video released by Star Sports.

"His batting is complementing that as well because if a captain is in good form, it makes a huge difference on decision making. You need to be in the right frame of mind to make those important calls. He's been batting brilliantly.

"As an opposition, normally, you know they look to find weak areas in your batting. When your technique at this point of time, has been remarkable. Whatever I have seen, it's been special.

The five-match series currently stands level at 1-1. England took the opening Test in Leeds, but India bounced back emphatically in Birmingham.

The third Test is being contested at Lord's, where England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first.

India made a key change for the Lord's Test, welcoming back pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah into the XI after he missed the second Test in Birmingham.

Bumrah replaced Prasidh Krishna in the line-up, bolstering the Indian pace attack as the visitors look to take the lead in the tightly contested series.

England, meanwhile, made a notable change of their own with the return of fast bowler Jofra Archer. The speedster is playing his first Test since February 2021, coming into the side in place of Josh Tongue.
