Gumayusi departs T1 after Worlds triumph as team eyes Peyz for 2026

T1 have confirmed the departure of star AD Carry Lee 'Gumayusi' Min-hyeong, bringing an emotional close to his seven-year tenure with the organisation.

The announcement came as a surprise to many fans, especially after the 23-year-old delivered a standout performance at Worlds 2025, claiming Finals MVP in T1's victory over KT Rolster and securing his third consecutive world title.

Despite expectations that he would re-sign, he instead leaves as a free agent, ready to begin what he described as 'a new chapter'.

During his time with T1, Gumayusi built a formidable legacy through consistent excellence, sharp mechanics, and signature performances on champions such as Varus, Caitlyn, Xayah, and Jinx.

Although he briefly lost his starting role early in the season to academy talent Shin 'Smash' Geum-jae, CEO Joe Marsh reinstated him, and he went on to produce a strong Worlds run.

His exit also marks another departure from the iconic ZOFGK roster core, following the transfer of top laner Choi 'Zeus' Woo-je to Hanwha Life Esports last year.

While Gumayusi has not officially confirmed his next destination, reports suggest he may reunite with Zeus at Hanwha Life Esports, who signed the top laner for 2025.

T1, meanwhile, have yet to announce his replacement, though widespread reports indicate that Kim 'Peyz' Su-hwan - formerly of Gen.G and JD Gaming - is expected to arrive as the new AD Carry for 2026.

In contrast to the upheaval in the bot lane, top laner Choi 'Doran' Hyeon-joon has renewed his contract through 2026, offering stability as T1 transition into a new era.
