Tottenham keen to pip Newcastle to James Maddison signing; Leicester looking to land Conor Coady
Tottenham are reportedly closing in on a deal for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison, while the Foxes are lining up a signing of their own as they have been linked with Wolves' Conor Coady.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is starting to reshape his squad for the Championship season - closing on a deal for Conor Coady as James Maddison nears an exit to Tottenham. </p>

Maresca was appointed as the Foxes' new manager in mid June - and has targeted Coady as a player who can help the club achieve promotion back to the Premier League. </p>
<p>
The 30-year-old centre-back was loaned out to Everton last season after falling out of favour at Molineux - and made 23 league appearances for the Toffees, scoring one goal. </p>
<p>
Coady has returned to his parent club Wolves - but it seems his future could lie at the King Power Stadium, with Maresca keen to add him to his defensive pool, according to Sky Sports. </p>

They also report that England playmaker Maddison - also a summer transfer window target for Newcastle United - who only has one year left on his current Leicester contract. </p>
<p>
The Magpies have instead moved their midfield hunt to AC Milan's Sandro Tonali, clearing the path for Tottenham to make a move for Maddison. </p>

Sky Sports claim the Londoners are in advanced talks with Leicester over the signing of Maddison, who registered 10 goals in nine assists in 30 league games last season. </p>
<p>
The two clubs are yet to agree a fee, with Maddison rated in the £60million bracket, but once that is settled, personal terms are not expected to be a problem for Spurs. </p>
<p>
New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has already bolstered his squad this summer, with Dejan Kulusevski making a permanent move from Juventus and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario joining from Empoli on Tuesday, June 27. </p>
