Report: Man Utd eye Bryan Mbeumo bid and Viktor Gyokeres pursuit
Manchester United have reportedly intensified their summer transfer activity, targeting Brentford's forward Bryan Mbeumo with a second bid and engaging in talks to secure Sporting Lisbon's striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Red Devils are determined to bolster their attacking options after a lackluster 2024/25 Premier League campaign, where only four teams scored fewer goals than their tally.
The Red Devils have already splashed out 62.5 million pounds to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, signaling their intent to revamp their forward line under manager Ruben Amorim.
Last season's struggles, with young strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee facing heavy criticism, have prompted United to prioritize proven attacking talent.
Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who netted an impressive 20 goals and provided eight assists in 38 Premier League matches last term, remains a prime target. United's initial offer of 45 million pounds plus 10 million pounds in add-ons was rejected, with Brentford holding firm for a fee closer to the 62.5 million pounds paid for Cunha.
Journalist Ben Jacobs provided an update on the situation, stating, "There hasn't been a second formal bid yet, but conversations are ongoing around a new figure, much closer to Brentford's valuation. United expect to submit a revised offer imminently, with a higher chance of acceptance."
Meanwhile, United have reignited their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres, a player familiar to Amorim from their time together at Sporting.
Despite missing out on Champions League qualification following a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, United remain in the race for the Swedish striker, who scored a remarkable 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting.
Recent reports indicate Gyokeres is "really pushing" for a move to Old Trafford, frustrated by Sporting's decision to backtrack on an agreement to let him leave for 60 million euros plus 10 million euros in add-ons.
Journalist Ross Harwood shared on X, "Gyokeres is determined to join United. He's pressing Sporting to honor their promise, and talks are progressing toward a resolution."
The Red Devils face competition for Gyokeres, with Arsenal also reportedly preparing a formal offer for the 27-year-old striker. However, Gyokeres' desire to reunite with Amorim could give United an edge. Jacobs noted, "Gyokeres is very keen on Old Trafford, even without European football, and United have reopened discussions."
As the summer transfer window reopens on June 16, following a brief pause due to the Club World Cup, United are poised to act swiftly.
Their ambition to secure both Mbeumo and Gyokeres underscores a clear intent to rebuild a formidable attack and restore their place among the Premier League's elite for the 2025/26 season.
