Fresh off a Premier League title under manager Arne Slot, the Reds are poised to reshape their squad with a dazzling double swoop.
The Reds have already kicked off their summer business with the acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for 29.5 million pounds. Negotiations for Bournemouth's promising left-back Milos Kerkez are also nearing completion, with sources indicating a deal is close.
However, the focus is firmly on Wirtz, the 22-year-old German star whose transfer is all but sealed. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X: "Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, HERE WE GO! Liverpool verbally agree deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen for package reaching 150 million euros add-ons included. Player side already agreed two weeks ago with move now imminent. Wirtz set for medical and contract signing."
Once Wirtz's move is complete, Liverpool are ready to pursue Barcola, the 22-year-old PSG winger who delivered 21 goals and 14 assists last season. The Reds are prepared to battle Bayern Munich for the 100-million-pound-rated Frenchman, whose role at PSG has diminished, making him a prime target.
The Sun reported that Liverpool "intend to spend big on another attacker" and are "set to swoop" for Barcola to complement Wirtz's arrival. X posts from @DeadlineDayLive echoed this, noting Liverpool's "ambitious move" for the versatile forward as a signal of their attacking intent.
The Reds' interest in Newcastle's Alexander Isak persists, but his 150-million-pound price tag may push Liverpool to prioritize Barcola as a dynamic alternative.
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, while praising Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo as a potential Salah successor, told Prime Casino: "I would have loved to have seen Bryan Mbeumo at Anfield with Liverpool. He's got loads going for him, astounding work rate, technical ability, and he fits Liverpool's style."
Despite Heskey's comments, Liverpool's sights are set on Barcola to bolster their frontline.
With Frimpong signed, Kerkez close, and Wirtz's medical looming, Liverpool's spending could surpass 300 million pounds this summer.
The Reds are crafting a squad brimming with flair and ambition, positioning themselves as Europe's team to beat in the 2025/26 season.
