Report: Borussia Dortmund make move to sign Wolves forward Fabio Silva

Borussia Dortmund have reignited their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers' forward Fabio Silva, aiming to add firepower to their squad for the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.

According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, the German side have offered the 23-year-old Portuguese striker a five-year contract, signaling their intent to secure him as a key attacking option.

Silva, who joined Wolves for a then-club-record 40 million euros in 2020, has struggled to establish himself at Molineux, scoring just five goals in 72 appearances. However, his loan spell at UD Las Palmas last season turned heads, with 10 goals and three assists in 24 La Liga matches.

"Fabio's shown he can deliver at a high level, and we see him thriving in our system," a Dortmund source reportedly told Tavolieri.

Negotiations, however, have hit a snag. Wolves have entrusted Jorge Mendes' Gestifute agency with an exclusive mandate to handle the transfer, a decision that has frustrated Dortmund and rivals RB Leipzig, who prefer direct talks with Silva's personal agent.

Sources indicate the agency's involvement has inflated the transfer fee, with estimates now ranging from 20 to 25 million euros due to Silva's contract running until 2026. "The setup is complicating things, but we're pushing to find a solution," a Dortmund insider said.

Wolves are open to a permanent sale, with Silva keen to leave Molineux for a fresh start. "We want a deal that works for everyone," a Wolves spokesperson said, echoing their stance on maximizing the transfer's financial return.

Dortmund, now under interim coach Mike Tullberg following Nuri Sahin's sacking in January 2025, are desperate to bolster their attack after a dismal run that left them 10th in the Bundesliga. Silva's versatility and goal-scoring instincts make him an ideal fit to complement Serhou Guirassy, offering depth and flair.

Despite interest from AS Roma and Valencia, Dortmund remain frontrunners, with X posts suggesting a deal could be finalized soon if the agency issue is resolved.

For Dortmund fans, landing Silva would be a bold statement of intent, signaling a renewed push to climb the Bundesliga table and restore their attacking identity at the Westfalenstadion.
