Report: Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel looking to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has asked the club's directors to sign Barcelona midfielder Frankie de Jong, according to reports. </p>

Tuchel is a big fan of De Jong and has requested the Bayern hierarchy to push the deal through. West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is understood to have been the former Chelsea manager's first choice but now looks to be heading to Premier League champions Manchester City. </p>

The Bavarians have already signed midfielder Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig and defender Raphael Guerreiro after leaving Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. </p>

Barcelona-bound Ilkay Gundogan is viewed as an ideal replacement for De Jong should the Dutch midfielder depart. However, Gundogan is still in talks with City over a new contract, who are fighting tooth and nail to hold onto their captain. </p>
