Newcastle closing in on signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali

Newcastle are close to completing the signing of AC Milan and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reports. </p>

Tonali, just 23, is one of the most prized possessions in world football with his consistently impressive performances. The midfielder would command a hefty transfer free but with Newcastle's new-found wealth that should not pose an issue. </p>

Milan's valuation of one of their most successful academy products in recent history is understood to be approximately €80m. However, the Rossoneri are believed to be willing to come down to Newcastle's offer of €70m plus €5m in bonuses </p>

Tonali, who is currently away captaining Italy at the U21 European Championships, will sign a six-year contract at St James Park if reports are to be true. </p>

Newcastle have reportedly beat off Chelsea for Tonali's signature due to offering a higher fee. Magpies coach Eddie Howe also had Inter Milan's Nicolo Barrella on his wishlist as well as Leicester James Maddison, but Tonali was always his first choice. </p>
