Kyle Walker makes surprise switch to Burnley after trophy-laden Man City career

After seven silverware-stuffed years at Manchester City, Kyle Walker is heading for a new challenge - and a familiar face - as he joins newly-promoted Burnley on a two-year deal.

The 35-year-old England international, who spent the tail end of last season on loan at AC Milan, has opted to return to the Premier League stage, linking up with former Spurs teammate Scott Parker at Turf Moor. According to reports, the deal could eventually be worth up to 5 million pounds to City depending on performance bonuses.

"When I spoke to Scott and heard his vision, I knew this was the right move," said Walker. "What he's done here is nothing short of amazing - 100 points, back in the Premier League, and building a side that can compete at the top level."

It's a bold move for Burnley and a clear signal of intent. Last season's promotion campaign was built on a rock-solid defense, and Walker's arrival brings elite-level experience, speed, and leadership to a squad ready to test itself against the best.

Walker had made over 200 Premier League appearances for City since his arrival in 2017. Under Pep Guardiola, he collected a staggering six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League medal, and even a Club World Cup. But in January, Guardiola revealed the veteran full-back had expressed his desire to move on come season's end.

Though AC Milan flirted with a permanent deal after his loan, they ultimately passed - opening the door for a return to England. Walker, still eyeing a spot in Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2026 World Cup, prioritized staying in the Premier League over other suitors, which reportedly included Fenerbahce and Everton.

His Premier League campaign with Burnley kicks off with a poetic twist - a trip to Tottenham Hotspur, the club where it all began for both him and Parker.

Now, Walker's next chapter begins - not chasing trebles in sky blue, but anchoring a gritty Burnley side aiming to make their top-flight return more than just a cameo.
