Borussia Dortmund are said to have reached a personal agreement with Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez, as per Ruhr Nachrichten.

Borussia Dortmund and Ajax are in talks to finalize a transfer deal for Edson Alvarez, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
The German club has reached an agreement on personal terms with the Mexican midfielder, paving the way for a potential move. The two clubs now need to settle on a transfer fee, expected to be in the range of €35 to €40 million.
Alvarez himself has expressed his gratitude for the reported interest and acknowledged that this summer presents an opportunity to progress in his career. "I've had four fantastic years here, and this place still feels like home. I've won numerous trophies and developed as a player.
"Now might be the right time to take the next step, but everything needs to align perfectly. I have areas to improve, and Ajax does too," he conveyed to Voetbal International.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder further shared his perspective on club interests, stating, "I only start thinking about it when my team confirms concrete interest from a club. I also come across news and rumours in the media."
Alvarez acknowledged the appeal of being linked with a prominent club, but he emphasized his respect for Ajax, remarking, "Ajax is also a big club, and I will always show appreciation to everyone associated with Amsterdam. I am sincerely grateful to everyone here."
Having joined Ajax in 2019, Alvarez has made 147 appearances, contributing 13 goals and six assists during his tenure.
