T1 win 2025 League of Legends World Championship Grand FinalComing into Worlds 2025 as the LCK's two lowest seeds, neither KT nor T1 were seen as favourites to lift the Summoner's Cup. Yet both teams defied expectations, turning in remarkable runs to reach the Grand Final in what became an epic Telecom War showdown.
KT stormed through the tournament with an undefeated Group Stage and knockout victories over CTBC Flying Oyster (3-0) and Gen.G Esports (3-1), setting up a clash with long-time rival T1. Meanwhile, T1 overcame a shaky Group Stage, scraping into the quarterfinals with a 3-2 record before defeating Anyone's Legend (3-2) and Top Esports (3-0) to set up a chance for a historic sixth Worlds title and the first team to win three consecutive championships.
The Worlds showdown in Chengdu was a thrilling back-and-forth series between KT and T1. KT started strong, but T1 swung momentum in their favor with two decisive mid-game teamfights to take game one. KT responded in game two, with bdd's standout performance on Mel helping them even the series. Game three saw KT dominate through Cuzz's Mundo, overwhelming T1's damage and taking control of objectives to claim the win.
T1 fought back in game four, leveraging Faker's Anivia and Oner's critical Smite plays to secure all neutral objectives and push the series to a decisive fifth game. In the final showdown, T1's Galio/Camille combo proved lethal in the crucial teamfights, allowing them to narrowly withstand KT's comeback attempts and ultimately secure the series. With the victory, T1 remains nearly undefeated in the Telecom War and lifts its sixth World Championship trophy.
"This year was very difficult for me. Every year was full of challenges, and I always had to prove myself," said Gumayushi after winning the Worlds MVP Award.
"You know, I have been the icon of being someone who always has to prove himself, but this year was different because finally, I feel like I have proven myself to myself. And I'm really happy that I was able to prove who I am to myself. And I can say for sure that I am the best AD Carry in the world."
