SNK announces $2.5M Fatal Fury tournament as part of 2025 World Championship
Game developer SNK has unveiled the SNK World Championship 2025, headlined by a record-breaking $2.5 million tournament for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

City of the Wolves marks the long-awaited return of the Fatal Fury franchise and the recent beta was met with enthusiasm from the fighting game community (FGC).
Announced via X (formerly Twitter), the SNK World Championship 2025 will feature multiple SNK fighting titles, though the full game lineup, schedule, and location are still under wraps. What is confirmed, however, is the staggering prize pool: $2.5 million total, including $1.5 million for the champion - eclipsing even the Capcom Cup's $2 million pool and $1 million grand prize.
The announcement was immediately welcomed by the FGC, which has struggled in the past with limited publisher support in comparison to other esports scenes.
Already, speculation is growing that top Street Fighter 6 players may switch to Fatal Fury to compete for the lucrative prize, similar to past trends like Counter-Strike pros transitioning to VALORANT, or Overwatch players turning to Marvel Rivals.
With qualifiers likely to be announced leading up to the championship in late 2025, expect to see FGC talent putting serious time into mastering City of the Wolves over the coming months.
SNK has promised to share more details soon, including the full tournament schedule, game lineup, and prize distribution.
