Sapporo secures ALGS World Championship for years 5 and 6
The Apex Legends Championship Series (ALGS) will remain in Japan for the next two years, with the world championships for Years 5 and 6 confirmed to be held in Sapporo.

EA, the publisher behind Apex Legends, has signed a two-year deal with the City of Sapporo, ensuring that the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME will once again host the flagship esports event.
This announcement follows the massive success of the Year 4 Championship, which also took place in Sapporo in late January. That event drew a record-breaking crowd of over 34,000 fans from around the globe, making it the most-attended ALGS event in history.
In a statement, EA highlighted that the multi-year deal reflects both the rapid growth of competitive gaming in the Asia-Pacific region and the company's continued commitment to live, in-person esports experiences.
However, the announcement comes at a time of change within the ALGS ecosystem. Despite the series' rising popularity, some long-time organisations have begun to step away from the circuit.
Notably, Complexity, one of the most established names in esports, exited the ALGS in June after six years of participation.
The decision to return to Sapporo underscores EA's confidence in the region's ability to support premier esports events.
