Apex Legends Global Series Open underway in New Orleans
New Orleans is hosting the Apex Legends Global Series Open from 1-4 May, featuring 160 teams competing for an impressive $1 million prize pool.

The bumper four-day tournament is the largest LAN event in the series' history. The event serves as the kickoff for Apex Legends' fifth competitive season.
No less than 160 teams are split into 8 groups of 20 teams which each will play a series of six games on day one at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre. The competition is whittled down until 4 May, where the 20 remaining teams will compete in the Match Point Format.
The first team to hit 50 points and then secure a 1st-place finish in upcoming matches will be crowned as the winner. The remaining teams will be ranked by total points awarded in the series. The top five teams qualify for the Midseason Playoffs.
THe $1 million is spread mong the five participants, with the winner walking away with a cool $300 000.
Major sponsors have got in on the action as well, with Red Bull, Sony INZONE, Nokia, Secretlab, Alienware and controller specialist Battle Beaver having branded zones throughout the venue.
Sony INZONE returns as the official monitor partner, supplying its 27-inch M10S OLED gaming displays for competitor stations and a hands-on showcase in the free-play area. Alienware will furnish tournament rigs, reaffirming its role as the event's official PC provider.
