India was 89 for 1 after 12.5 overs when rain interrupted play and eventually called it off. The match had earlier been shortened to 29 overs per side because of the rain, but the next stoppage forced the contest to be abandoned. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had won the toss and elected to bowl against India.
