After winning the opening Test in Brisbane within two days, Australia were far more vital with both bat and ball at the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne than their opponents.
Kagiso Rabada was the only South African bowler to go for more than five runs per over at MCG but still took two wickets. Once again, Anrich Nortje was the visitors' bowler of choice, although experienced spinner Keshav Maharaj has a more significant role in Sydney.

Australia Players to watch
1. Travis Head has the consistency all Test batters crave, adding another half-century in his only innings at MCG. He is the choice of the batter.
2. Nathan Lyon will enjoy playing in front of his home fans in this Test. He's the bowler's choice.
South Africa Players to watch
1. Dean Elgar has to deliver as captain and is the best batsman.
2. Kagiso Rabada was expensive but still caused problems for batters in Melbourne. He is the only player to reach double-digit wickets in the series.
